Problems with Firestone Tires?

Has anyone had a problem with their Firestone tires on the Jeep Compass? My dealer said there has been a problem with the Firestone tires on Jeep Compass. My tires only have 23,000 miles and they make the car shake, makes noises and are already wearing out. Thanks.

Your dealer didn't lie. The 18" Firehawks are probably the worst. Cupping, noisy and pretty much worn out between about 23K and 30K if your lucky. The 17" Affinitys aren't quite as bad but most people are glad to be rid of them when they change.

Firehawks are nasty.
We got rid of ours after about 20k.
The noise was so bad, even with the radio cranked up you could still hear them screaming.

Replaced them with some Hankooks and all is good now.

Thank you. Why can't we get some sort of refund from Firestone? Very annoying. Again, thanks for responding.

Why has Jeep stuck with the Firehawks on the Compass? Did they know, after the first year or so, that the tire sucked and found a better product!? There aren't leaving a great "I want to buy all my vehicle from Jeep" feeling with issues like this...

Does it sound like a whine, or like a whistle? Because I've had a sound like that anytime I get above ~40mph and couldn't think of what it could be. But now that I read that, it's probably the tires.

Wow, you only got ~6,000 miles out of the Hawks!? What were the issues you were having when they were replaced? I am at about 9,000 now...

Bad rear wheel bearing

I replaced my tires at 32,000 I guess. I still had a noise from the rear that kept getting louder. The dealer replaced a bad wheel bearing and the noise was gone.

I have the stock Goodyear All Weather Eagle LS-2’s (P205/70R16) on my Patriot and so far they are fine. Keep in mind that I’ve only had my “Pat” about a month; but they do seem very road worthy and give a very quiet ride.

BTW The Goodyear equivalent for a Compass is the P215/60R17. Other than size, I can’t imagine that they’d be much different than mine.
