IF you go to jeep.com and click all models on the left side of the page you will
see the Compass looks like a small Cherokee
and the Patriot looks like a small Commander

the compass looks like a libby that got beaten by the ugly stick...
the Patriot looks like a Cherokee (XJ), infact the Commanders main influence was the XJ.

You're definitely right that the Patriot looks like the Commander. I think you mean to say that the Compass looks like a small Grand Cherokee. From the model comparison page at Jeep.com, it certainly does.

I do have one major gripe about that page: you can't tell the relative sizes of the various models -- the Compass actually looks larger than the GC on there. And it looks like the Patriot could eat the Wrangler Unlimited for breakfast...

I must admit I thought my Liberty was a little odd looking when I bought it. Why did I buy it? I loved the way it drove for a solid rock climber. Simple. Now I just love it. That being said, I am not jumping on the Compass/Patriot bandwagon. Especially that Compass.

Jeep should put out something that resembles their Hurricane concept. That was a hot vehicle.

Commuter Jeeps with Gas mileage in the upper 20's and a price in the low teens...

The base Patriot is supposed to be the most affordable Jeep on the road. I think the world would be a much better place if there were more Jeeps and less pavement!
