Patriot Sport Original Eagle LS tires

Im new to the forum.

Just traded a liberty sport for the Patriot Sport.
I fear I may miss my OWL Wrangler tires.

Can anyone tell me if the Eagle LS 205 70 R16 will be ok or not in snow.

Im in the North East and the office never closes due to snow.

Thanks to all of you.

First off to the group.

You can head on over here to get an idea of what fits. There is a link to the Tire Rack over there too and you can read the ratings that others have given. We see if anybody else here has run those tires in the conditions that you're asking about.

Don't forget our Engineering love talk tomorrow night too!

I noticed the Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6 is available in your size. If it's performance in the snow you're looking for - that'd be my suggestion.

The Eagles aren't a bad tire - but they just don't do anything well. They're just kind of there as a very average and unremarkable tire.

I bought my patriot in march so i had to drive it in the snow a few times. Surprisingly the eagle LS's are a decent tire in the snow. i didnt have any trouble. Tho i think, with the patriots traction control systems, just about any tire would be good in the snow on it.

Question

Does changing the tire size cause an effect on the tire pressure monitoring system?

I called the dealer and he gave me a speech that no other tire other than the dunlop grand tek was possible or my system would be screwed up.

And with the dunlop he indicated I would have to use the same wheels no other rim and keep re balancing from season to season.

That just didn't seem completely right to me somehow.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.

my exp is that it doesnt matter as long as ur staying to a similar size tire. i switch to yokohama geolander A/Ts 235/65/17 from the firestone affinity 215/60/17 and do not have any issuse with the TPMS. the tire pressure is still "set" at what they were for the firestones, alarm goes off at 27-28psi and i still run the yoko's at 33psi cold. again this is just my exp others might differ. oh yea

The TPS runs off of psi and radio signals, period. If what your dealer said were true then they wouldn't be able to run an optional size rims or tires. Many of us have changed tire sizes with no problems. 07compasssport has 235/65-17, I have 235/60-18 and are many more variations out there. The tires that are listed in the link in the 2nd post will all work fine for the TPS but depending on tire height could change your speedo calibration.
