Patriot Pricing?

Hi guys, I'm peeping in here from the YJ forum.

I'm thinking about trading in my S60 R in on a Patriot, just wondering what you guys/gals are paying for them?

I'll probably get FD1 4x4. use it as a DD, no offroading or anything like that.

What would I expect to be able to get the dealer down on price?

Thanks!

all the dealers around here are adding a premium to the price of the patriot and the 4 door JK.

the dealer i dont like has a $4k premium ABOVE MSRP. That dealer happens to be in rich yuppie area of the metro area, so i'm sure they're getting their 4k.

The dealer i'm going to order from has the ones on the lot at 1500 over msrp, and they're willing to drop the premium if its an order vehicle rather then a lot vehicle.

Dealer 1 has sold 3 units total. They had one on the lot that they arent letting anyone test drive at all.

Dealer 2 has sold 11 units, last time i went, they had 5 on the lot.

Wow...I got a DEAL! I wanted a Patriot when I was shopping for a vehicle in December, but didn't want to wait for its release, so I bought a Compass at OVER$2,000 BELOW MSRP. Since the dealer you don't like is charging a $4,000 premium, I guess that means I saved $6,000?

But seriously, I'd like to trade for a Patriot in a year or so, when the prices come down into reality. And even though the Compass isn't as popular, I doubt the lower trade-in value will exceed the premium I would have paid at this time for the Patriot. In the meantime, from my viewpoint the Compass looks the same as a Patriot...that is, from behind the steering wheel.

If you're not looking for an offroad rig, right now the Compass is definitely worth considering.

If you go through Costco's Auto Sales Program you will be able to get one for $375 over dealer invoice. If you aren't a member, it would be worth the $45 membership fee just to buy the vehicle.

When we bought our Mini Cooper and Scion xB, we didn't need the program, because they have fixed no-haggle pricing. But for the Matrix and Patriot we did, and they were great purchasing experiences.... $175 over invoice for the Matrix, $375 over for the Patriot.

I wouldn't be surprised if other warehouse places like Sam's Club and BJ's Warehouse have similar programs. They work and are worth checking out.

I ordered a Jeep Green sport 4x4 FDI with CVT, YES/Heated Seats, Pkg26E, and the upgraded 9 speaker system. Before Taxes/Tags/Title, I paid $19k.
I get 1% under invoice through my employer.

That's fantastic! What an awesome choice for a vehicle under $20K!

I already own a 97 Wrangler. The patriot was a replacement for my Wifes 94 BMW 325i which had 250k miles on it. The repairs to keep it running were becoming too expensive. Her only "requirement" for her new car is 4 doors, automatic transmission and A/C. I did some comparison shopping and in all honesty, the Patriot was the best deal for the $ that I could find.

I wanted her to have 4wd since she will be driving our child to and from school. Add in all the other safety features,MPG, and the fact it's a jeep, and it quickly became a no-brainer.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

I think i'm going to go check it out this friday. I think i will also look at the JK's, but i dont think they would really suffice for right now. I'd like to get a 4 door sometime down the line. but for now i have the YJ.

The pat i'm asking about has all of those options listed above, it is white. they told me that the price is reduced to $20k some, because it is an ad unit.

If I can't work out a deal with them, I may head to honda. or just wait for the Volvo to sell privately.

I was quoted MSRP and a really good trade in allowance.(For my daughter) Since that trip, she has received 3 letters, and a phone call from the dealer. Called today to say he had 2 more come in this week. He had two when we visited a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if the prices may have changed?? Can't find out until she signs her contract sometime in the next couple of months.

I Went by the dealer today. Took off work and went early in the morning (10am).

checked out the patriot. drove it. liked it. talked with the dealer, he went to get the guy to appraise my car.

i waited about 30 minutes from this point. then salesman came by and said he was still waiting on something, so then another 20 minutes went by

then he came by w/ the numbers, that still werent the "official" numbers.

so they gave me what i considered to be a REALLY low value for my trade in, and wouldnt budge off the price of the patriot, or any of the other "fees".

So after waiting for ANOTHER 30 minutes, it was getting late, and i was tired of wasting time while the sales man went to "try to get better numbers", so i got my keys and left.

he called me again later saying that they couldnt do any better than that.

Oh well, guess i'm not getting a pat.
