Patriot needs some help

"I have a throttle valve sticking and need it unstuck to pass emissions.
its a intake runner stuck open but all the jeep patriot forums say its a a flow actuator valve and the dealerships want to replace the whole manifold"
the above is a message sent to me by a friend. Her patriot apperently has this intake runner or what not stuck open. Now of course im sure the dealership wants to replace all that because they want her greenbacks. is there any info on this out there on what to do or what the real fix is?

maybe some need to know info also. it is the 4x4 4cyl 5speed. she just upgraded to the 17inch wheels and had the dealership flash the computer. the code the jeep is throwing is "error code P2004 -intake runner stuck open...." any clues?

The P2004 code gives 16 different scenaros to check out. Assuming they checked the 15 electrical test and determined they were OK it comes down to this:

*******************************************
MANIFOLD FLOW VALVE

Turn the ignition off.
Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Manifold Flow Valve and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Remove the Manifold Flow Valve.
Inspect the return spring and the valve blade assembly for debris stuck in the path or for frozen/seized blades.

NOTE: Manifold Flow Valve over travel or under travel can cause this DTC to set.

NOTE: If the Manifold Flow Valve blades are seized in the intake manifold, the manifold will have to be replaced.

NOTE: If the Manifold Flow Valve is replaced, a non volatile memory reset must be performed to learn the new port flap adaptive values.

*******************************************
If they just read the code and didn't actually do any testing then it would take quite a while to post the info for you to do it.
