patriot horn

I have an 08 Jeep Patriot and the horn stopped working today. I tried to find the fuse for the horn but, it isn't listed in the manual anywhere. Unless I missed it. Can anyone tell me which fuse it is so I will have a starting point to troubleshoot the horn.

There is no fuse it's part of the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM), C11 connector, cavity 9 (X-21) http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f98/t...module-458804/

It boils down to a bad connector, bad wire, bad ground at the horn, bad horn or bad TIPM.

First check to see if the horn has a good ground at the case.

Next apply direct voltage to the horn with a test lead.

Check wiring and connectors for damage.

If you can check the codes they are:

B2336–HORN CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW - (X21) HORN CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND or TIPM.

B2337–HORN CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH - (X21) HORN CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORTED TO BATTERY VOLTAGE, EXCESSIVE RESISTANCE IN THE HORN OR CASE GROUND, TIPM

B2338–HORN CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN - TERMINAL DAMAGE OR CORROSION, (X21) HORN CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN, HORN CASE GROUND, HORN, TIPM.

B2371–HORN CONTROL CIRCUIT OVERCURRENT - TERMINAL DAMAGE OR CORROSION, (X21) HORN CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT HIGH RESISTANCE, HORN CASE GROUND, TIPM.

Hmm, Gramps, does that mean I can wire in the new horn I bought before my old one dried out and started working again?:D If so, that would be sooo awesome! To have two wimpy sounding horns instead of one, LMAO!!! But seriously, can it be done without overloading the single wire?

Since the TIPM controls and reads the power going to the horn, off hand I would say NO. It would be drawing too much current to run both just like trying to tap in extra trailer lights with out the relays or run HID's. I think you could run an extra power lead and relay and run more/different horns though. It's a thought.

Hello again..Just returned from the Jeep dealer here in Portugal and they say the problem is with the clock spring. Here it costs about 600 dollars what i think its too much(more than half my salary) so wonder if you have dealers in USA that can do that cheaper.

Thank you very much

The clockspring is just a small spring inside the steering column under the steering wheel that connects some of the electronics. It's got to cost less than a $20 bill and many have pulled their own steering wheels to put in cruise control.
