Patriot died and wont start
Ok so the old lady was driving her 08 patriot w/ 60K miles and has the 2.4L engine. Left the house and died 1Mi down the road. I looked at it last night and replaced the crank position sensor. I also got a cheapo centech code scanner from a friend and the only code it has was an engine misfire. The car still wont start. It cranks and spudders like it wants to start, but just doesn't have it in her to fire up!

Anything else i should be looking into? Is it possible it is a fuel related issue? pump or filter? I was going to see if i can hear the fuel pump turn off/on after work today.

When i seen coil go bad before it will still start... just runs rough.

I had a Cavalier quit running completely with a bad coil way back when. My volvo only ran rough. Volvo gave a misfire code with it.

Oh ok ya wouldn't hurt to check them... I am used to Tritan ford engines they will run on a dead cyl

Looked at all spark plugs and one was black and I thought it was fowled and tried a new coil pack and it didn't work.

Also put 4 new plugs in it since they needed it anyway

Maybe clean the Mass Airflow Sensor? Its easy to get to.

Ended up being the fuel pump

Does anybody know how much of a pain in the A&% it is to replace the fuel pump on the patriots?

Not sure, but I believe you might have to drop the gas tank to get to it. There must be someone here that knows for sure.

Never done it but according to the service manual there is an access panel under the rear seat.

Under rear seat there is an access panel. Above post is correct.
