New Patriot in the Family

I figured I'd introduce myself since I'll probably pop in a time or two to lurk in the background or ask a quick question...

My mom's mustang was recently totaled so she was in the market for a new vehicle. She wanted an SUV and found she liked the Jeep Patriot quite a bit. 2011 Latitude with I believe Freedom Drive I. I checked it out for a few minutes last night and thought it was pretty cool, especially to get her safely to and from work (4x4 will be handy for the snow) while getting decent fuel mileage.

My wife and I have a WJ and a TJ and I do most, if not all, of our own vehicle work. I took a peak in the engine bay of the MK (MK, right?) which appears like it isn't too bad to work on when the time comes since it'll be added to my list of vehicles to maintain. Hopefully it won't be stuck in my garage apart from the usual maintenance.

And of course, a picture because we all like pictures!

Hi ya and . I haven't needed to work on mine much just regular maintenance. Oil changes and spark plugs are all very easy to get at.

Thanks for the welcoming. I yanked the cover off the engine when I was looking it over and noticed everything is right in front of you. The only thing that looks like it could be a pain is the belt since it's transversely-mounted but I really haven't given it a lot of time to see how that may be. Either way, it seems like a pretty nice little jeep! If she likes it enough, I might look into getting one for the wife!

Wow that doesn't look too bad! I know my way around engines and what not but after working on/swapping a transversely-mounted eclipse engine, I decided I like the room of the 4.0 in my WJ!

Great instructions. Thanks for the link!
