Navigation System In Dash, Does Anyone Have It??

Let me know if you have Navigation System fitted in your Jeep Patriot. Does it work well?? does it have any effect with the stereo system?

I have the REC navigation system in my Compass and it works ok, but is no comparison to my Nuvi 760, the REC is cumbersome to use and updated DVD's cost a fortune, as far as the stereo it works fine with my BA system

MyGig in 08 Compass

I am in the process of installing a RER MyGig into my 08 Compass. I picked up a RER on ebay for $700. For 07-08 models you need a device called the Lock Pick. This allows direct connection to the vehicle. It runs about $350. Nice features about the Lock Pick is it unlocks the annoying features of the RER unit. ie. You can enter addresses while your driving. The only problem is finding the Bezel kit for the radio. I have the dealership trying to get a 09 Bezel kit for me as Jeep is now offering the RER in the 09 models.

Does the 07/08 Compass/Patriot have what they're calling a "low speed" BUS that the 09 Compass has (that the new RER MyGIG systems apparently use?) This has my interest peaked as far as a replacement unit (I even have a spare bezel I could dremel)

08 Compass

I know the Compass has a low speed. If you do a search on "RER lockpick" you'll find the site. You can confirm here.

Questions about navigation in 2008 Compass

I am considering buying a navigation system off E-Bay

06 Jeep Commander 6-Disc/MP3 & DVD Navigation Radio

That is a discription of the item, does anyone know if this is compataible with a 2008 Compass, and if so is thre any extra items I will need to buy, from reading this forum i see something about a "lockpick"

Thank You

Hi
06 commanders will probably be an REC unit, see here http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_radios.htm . Only need the lock pick on a My-GIG unit so you donít need that. You will probably need a GPS antenna and a sat nav disc if it doesnít come with one. You could also need a nav bessel 82211589 is the part number I have.
Regards,
Merlin

In reference to the nav bassel, do you know of any websites I can find one, or would a jeep dealership be the best place?

Hi
Jeep dealers will have access to an accessorises web site were they list all accessorises. The part number I posted above is from the international accessorises web site that we have so I guess the US will have a similar system.
