My moms 07 Compass

ok, so my mom just bought a 07 compass about 3 weeks ago. I wasnt there when she bought it, she usually want me to be there so I can help out with the choice. But she said that the trans was different (as the dealer said) and it defiantly feels different too. like when I drive it, it seems like im driving a manual also when I hit the gas it revs up and then goes and it shifts really early (around 3000 rpm) compared to my jeep.

But anyway does anyone know about this "new trans" or no?

Or does anyone know what im talking about?

The "New" is that it is a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) - There are not gears inside, instead there are two pulley that can change their size and a steel drive belt. Just search on "CVT" and you will finds lots of posts about the transmission.

The CVT reminds me of the old Chevy / GM 2 speed powerglide. had one in a 67 Chevy Impala Wagon that I had. Had 105,000 on it before it went, had it rebuilt for $200 back in 1983.
