MK lift and spacers

So it sounds like the RRO lift is working out well. What about a good set of spacers to clear that strut problem. Has anyone found or used any wheel spacers for the MK? I would love to run 30-31's on mine but I cant find spacers. grrr

do you think the wheel spacers have to be hub centric or not? The compass/patriot hub/center bore is 67.1. A jeep wrangler 80-06 for instance is 71.5. It would fit but would not be hub centric .... right?

I do recall someone going with some pretty good size spacers. This is from memory so I may not be right on the money with the info. I also can't remember if it was on here or over at JP.

They used about a 2" spacer and some tires in the size that you are looking at. They ran into a problem with the tire hitting the wheel well because of the change in the turning arch. I do think that they had the lift kit also. I also recall them needing a different size spacer for the rear.

I do think that hub centric is a must and I know that the Tire Rack sells after market wheels with a centering adapter listed but I don't know where you would find them separately, I just haven't looked.

Some of the better spacers (not legal in all states) are up around $200 a set and it may be worth looking at wheels with a different offset that would do the same thing. But then you still have the turning arch to deal with.

Any one with a better memory on this please feel free to chime in.

Remember that a strut is already having to fight sideways bending unlike the spring in a double wishbone setup. Using spacers or wheels with more offset will make those forces greater.

Right. The biggest hazard even if you do get them to fit is the increased stress on the half shafts and bearings. I imagine some early life failure some where in there.

my goal is mostly looks. I want a tire for highway most of the time. I need the lift from the RRO kit and taller tires to get on and off the beach. I want to get some aggressive looking tires that are good on the sand and the highway. I would like to give the MK a wider stance to, get the wheels just outside the fender. Maybe I could use some 1/2" spacers just for looks.

Rall-E, pictures won't show up until you have a certain amount of posts made. I think it's 30. Just post the links to the pictures.

The problem with the image is that its URL is not valid. Do post images using the IMG-tag even if you don't have the required amount of posts to post images. Makes it easier for others to no-clicky your posts by simply quoting them.
