I want to apologize for the my reaction in that thread on that other forum... but those guys are not as smart as they think and have absolutely no business lifting any vehicle with that level of knowledge.

How is it that members can get banned by saying they dislike something over here, but calling people retarded is okay? You guys know full well that I and other members visit both boards, and I was in disagreement with you over there. Also, I don't see where you need to be an expert or even experienced on suspensions to have your vehicle lifted. I'm not, and I still plan on lifting my next vehicle, and right now that is looking like an '09 Patriot. Its likely that I'll just pay the dealer or another mechanic to do it, but that is no different than paying a guy to install a dishwasher... Are you an expert on computers, washing machines, tv's, etc? If not, by your logic, you shouldn't have one. As far as we know, the fault wasn't in his assembling the kit, otherwise RRO wouldn't have fixed the part. So why shouldn't he have a kit? |

Being critical of someone on another forum or the forum itself does not violate the rules of this forum. There were no names mentioned, it was a generic statement. Why are you trying to bring the fight over here?
Lifting a Jeep or doing any other MODIFACATION is not the same as driving a stock unit, i.e. "install a dishwasher, computers, washing machines, tv's, etc". If you had no understanding as to how the other items mentioned worked would you modify them? If you do not have the basic understanding, other than being able to twist a wrench, then you should ask or seek more information before you make the mod. The part in question that failed, the sway bar extension bracket, was made from the same size material as Jeep used on the original bracket. Installing one of the first kits (and still the only kit) available should be considered somewhat experimental.

People modify things all the time, without full knowledge of all the working parts. Ever put new software on your computer? If so, you just modified it...I practically guarantee most people can't write the script that makes it run.
I'm not bring a fight here...I'm not even fighting. I'm commenting. But I am here, and I am on the other site as well. And anyone who visits both can make an assumption as to who JLink was referring to. The fact that names aren't mentioned is a technicality. JLink posts some pretty good stuff, and I enjoy reading it. I'll admit that I don't know much about suspensions, but I'm learning and so are others....and a lot of that comes from the information shared here and at the other site. Does that make us retarded? That is the part I find questionable. To be honest, I believe he has a right to say it if he thinks so. And again it doesn't offend me, but I should have the right to defend myself and to clarify the "rules" of this forum. The other part that is questionable is your reaction to things. Had he called you and those who argued on your side a retard, you would surely have deleted the post, banned him, and wrote a lengthy response detailing to everyone how much of a waste of time the whole thing is. However, since you share JLink's point of view and happened to understand the workings of a sway bar, you allowed the belittlement of the concern the original poster intended and the insults that followed. Again, like JLink, you post some of the most informative responses on this site and the other. Everyone learns from you and appreciates your input. On the other hand, you always want to be right and you are not always right...someone just happened to put you in control of the delete, edit, and ban buttons. |

Please do not assume what I will do! I have banned only 2 people since becoming a Mod. You were one of those and I restored your use, the other was banned for a week. I have warned many people and I will continue to take the "lighter" side.
Software has MANY months of testing by professionals before it is released to the market and even MS has service packs issued because of problems found by customers and reported them to MS. These are upgrades and not the same issue. Off-Road shops do not have a fleet of vehicle at their disposal to test for who knows how many miles to find out something will fail. Doba had the breakage problem before the other user and he didn't make headline "Potential Danger" post about it. It was for information as it should be, something to be aware of bit not "dangerous". Again, JLink violated no rules of this forum by giving his opinion of those on another form. If anybody starts harassing or flaming over here then I have a requirement to take some kind of action. I've had people disagree with me before that never were banned. Yes, if anybody singles out me, you, or anybody else ON THIS FORUM by using a derogatory of inflammatory names it's a violation of the rules. He didn't, no problem. I do not moderate the other forum, it's not my responsibility to be the "necessary evil" over there. There were also other comments throw at me on the other site for defending RRO and taking the position that I did. I was invited over to the other site to "help" because, at the time, there appeared to be a lack knowledge, but when given the proper information, it's ignored, so why bother at all? Simply because I feel that not all of the users are like that. Yes, I like to be right because I don't care to give out erroneous information. I do research before posting. If my replies seem to be long winded it's because some subjects need more explanation. If I am failing as a moderator you can contact Admin about it or start a poll to have me replaced.

I edited my post here to not offend anyone and so the topic of me being banned would stop.

Jim, you have no need to apologize to me, no worries! To me this was a mole hill that turned into a mountain.

gramps, thats great...
I almost see a pattern here. Now two level headed guys have contacted RRO and both of got outstanding support. They have now told both of us that the parts from the original kits would be replaced upon the owners request.
