On one hand, it is good to know that they have redesigned these items. On the other hand, if I'm one of the guys who bought the "original design" I'd like to know about the problem before I get in an accident, lose a day of work, etc.

Also, at least Doba's problem happened while he was screwing around off-road. This guy was making a freakin' U-turn.

Will a red circle do? I believe this is what they are talking about.

As soon as I read this post over on the new forum I contacted RRO and this is our conversation:

Quote:
Please wait for a site operator to respond.
All operators are currently assisting others. Thanks for your patience. An operator will be with you shortly.
You are now chatting with 'Joshua'
you: Good day Joshua
you: I am sure your aware of the information posted regarding the RRO lift for the patriot. Is there a recall?
Joshua: no recall that im aware of
you: Do you know when the redesign took place?
you: I just want people on the forums to chill out... I think its rediculous they are taking this to such extremes.
you: and how to tell the difference in the two parts?
Joshua: the new design has a support added to the side of it triangulated so it doesnt flex
you: do you know if mine was the new one? it does have a triangular portion to the bracket. I can give you my order number and date.
Joshua: the bracket has been in production with our kits for la little over a month now
you: What day did the new brackets start shipping? Exactly
you: This way I can confirm mine is new or old so I can post photos of the new if mine is to show the differences.
Joshua: dont have an exact date but if the bracket has the triangulated support thats the new style the old one was flat
you: triangulated may meen two different things.. can you explain that better or provide a photo?
Joshua: can i have your e-mail to send the pic
you: actually josh I just answered my own question... I definately have the new ones.
you: I just found a photo of the old ones on a forum and mine has a diagnol side support the length of the extension.
Joshua: great did you still want the pic
you: I'll be posting photos of that bracket mounted on mine to help others see you defiately updated the design...
you: sure why not just for absolute proof.
you: deleted for my safety@gmail.com
Joshua: thank you
I am also posting a photo of the new part as it is already mounted on my 'Riot below:

as opposed to the old one posted by hvac59 in his RR LIFT WRITE-UP post in the Knowledge post.

and finally the photo of the new mount that RRO sent me so you can see it unmounted:

Hopefully Gramps can repost this because I am not sure I have the minimum posts here yet.

But link to an IMG tag and they show up - yes.

I may just weld a brace on to mine. Easy enough.

The fact this guy took this part breaking as a serious safety issue makes me laugh. Ours broke, I zip tied it up in place and continued to go wheeling the rest of the day. IT'S A SWAY BAR. You don't need them.

I also took it as "the sky is falling". There are many Off-Roaders that don't use them at all, but they are nice for cornering on the street.

Not quite.

The sway bar helps the suspension to keep the tires on one plane to help eliminate roll over during hard cornering.

The Strut Tower Brace will help to keep the dog house area (engine compartment) in line with the rest of the chassis and keep it from twisting. It does help the suspension but more by eliminating body flex, a very good thing for off roading an MK and good for sports car road racing that sit lower to the ground.

learn something new every day. my interpretation was different. knowledge is power. btw checked the compass and every thing appears to be good with the brackets. might reinforce them when i got more time.
