Lunging or hopping???

I have a 2007 Jeep Compass 2.4L with 4wd and lately, once the car gets warm (not necessarily operating temperature either), it seems to lunge or hop upon acceleration from stop or close to stop. For instance, if I slow down to turn on another street or if I come to a stop sign once I get some speed up it seems to cease (it only occurs between 0 and approximately 20 mph). It doesn't do it once I take my foot off the accelerator, but as soon as I begin to accelerate again, it starts again. I can't tell if its fuel related or transmission related or neither. No codes are present. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mine does that too. I've got a 2007 2.4L 2wd. I've always thought that it was because of the cvt transmission. I do not know anything for sure but I'd really like to know what it is too.

So what's the fix for it (showing ignorance btw lol)? I've had the car for about 4 yrs now and it has never done this before (started about 6 months ago). its almost as if the car doesn't want to throttle up and take off (i.e. the noise from the exhaust dies off as it "bogs" down).

Well if it wasnt doing it before its probably not just a cvt design flaw. The jerkyness in mine feels like there is a delay from the time you step on or let off the gas to the time the throttle body or tranny respond, then it jerks. But mines been that way since new.

I've had similar problems with my 2007 patriot.... It ended up being low tranny fluid and a computer module reprogram.. But remember the fluid doesn't just burn up so if it is the fluid, find out where it's leaking from... In my case it was to the radiator but also it could be leaking onto the driveway or something... You can only check the level for fluid if you have special dipstick which are only available to dealers or auto repair shops... Chrysler is selling one court for $40 bucks but go to auto zone and get it for $10.50, so good luck

Hmm - just posted a similar issue - sounds like it is time for me to get the tranny fluids checked. (Mine is a 2.4L automatic 2007 Compass)
