lift for 2013 patriot?

so my fiancee just traded her 2011 KK liberty for a 2013 MK patriot. it's quite a bit lower than her liberty & she was thinking that she might want to put a small 2" lift on it to get some additional ride height. would she notice any loss in mpg's?
i'm coming at this from my WK, so i'm totally clueless. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, she would notice a drop in MPG's but it should be pretty negligible. But if you go with a lift, I recommend wheel spacers, and a slightly larger tire. You can go up an inch and a half in tire size (overall diameter) and get some height that way as well. I run 245/65-17's I rub a bit, but you could go with a 225/70-17, which is 29.5" vs the stock 28" tire, and you should have little if any rubbing. and with a lift it will fill that wheel well, giving it a better look as well.

Thanks...appreciate the advice! I'm looking forward to playing around w/ this little jeep of hers & seeing what it can do!
I have a set of 245/65/17s from my WK laying around, maybe I'll just get some spacers & throw 'em on the MK for the heck of it.

One more thing. Will stock WK wheels fit on an MK? Fiancée likes my current wheel/tire combo & I was thinking of new wheels & bigger tires anyway.

No WJ to WK2 wheels have been 5x5 since 99

5x127MM

If you go with the 245's you'll need to modify this spot in the front wheel wells:

Otherwise it will rub, the way I did it was to use my dremmel with a cut off tool, cut the plastic, and the took a big hammer and flattened the pinch weld that's under it, last step was to spray it with black spray paint, then I'll probably use a plastic welder and cover it back up as flatly as I can with the plastic i cut off. Haven't done that part yet though.

xJoshxx what's the bolt pattern on the MK then? They look identical...

Rocky Road Outfitters has a lift that keeps your stock suspension components (shocks and springs) but gives you a 2&1/8" lift ... most MK owners who want a cheap lift go this route and it's what Mopar Underground used on their Patriot Extreme concept back in 2010 and the Compass Canyon concept in 2011. Link for you; http://www.rocky-road.com/patriotsus.html

Also, ARB's Old Man Emu has a STU Coils lift for the MK's but it cost's more and gives you less lift...but id does supposedly give you a more cushioned ride quality. Some people love it but others dont like it. I do not know where people order those lifts from though. I'm trying to google it now and am coming up with nothing.

Wow, Kenny, that's great! Super helpful, thank you...guess my WK wheels will go collect dust in the garage & we'll get her a new set of 17" to fit the 5x4.5 bolt pattern...

Really? She HATES the stock 16"s that came on the thing...maybe I'll try to convince her to just get new wheels the same size...

aroundincircles 02-06-2013 09:39 AM

Get aftermarket 16s, get a wider rim, with some more backspacing.

Kenny-g 02-07-2013 09:08 AM

Or TJ Rubicon wheels like I did :p
