Lifetime Powertrain Warrenty

Since I had to change dealers because of mine closing I wanted to make sure I had all my paperwork in hand so no unneeded mx was done and realised I didn't have a copy of the Powertrain warrenty.
If anyone wants a copy before it possibly disappears from the Jeep sight, on Jeep.com under the owners section theres a link to Warrenty and it's a 1 page copy of exaclty whats covered when the Jeep needs to be checked to keep it valid and also does say the dealer will do this at "No Charge"

Has anyone here filed a claim under the lifetime warranty? I'm curious how well it works in reality.

Related question, and I know I can look this up in the owners manual...but first required maintenance is 15,000 miles, correct?

Gramps 07-16-2009 05:24 PM

3,000 miles. Down load the manual from the link in the stickies and never have to run out and get your manual again.

Gramps, I guess I meant first required "dealer" service...I have 11000 miles, so I am already on oil/filter change #3 and have rotated the tires at 7,500.

Gramps 07-17-2009 04:03 PM

I knew you had more miles than that so I was confused! The last I heard was 5 years!

The latest info is here.

So, as long as I have documented the other "services" (I do the oil changes myself), I should be okay to as long as I get a 5 year free inspection? I have a log book in the glove box where I record the date, mileage and brand of oil and the date of tire rotations, etc.

what needs to be done at 3,000 miles? My owners manual says first oil change is 6,000 miles.

Gramps 08-05-2009 05:49 PM

The 1st required maintenance, an oil change. It's close to being the easiest oil change I've ever done! The filter is right up front and I can reach the oil plug with out my ramps if I wanted to.

according to my dealer to stay in warranty in reguards to oil changes it is every 6k or 6months what ever come first.

Gramps 08-07-2009 04:33 PM

That is Schedule "A" that is 6K or 6 months.
Schedule "B" is 3K or 3 months.
I should have specified.

It depends on your driving conditions and the criteria can be found in your owners manual. Download available here if you need one without running out to your Jeep.

My dealership is telling me that since I run synth oil I can run schedule A even though I occasionally pull my boat.

I think I'm still going to follow B just because I did that with my previous car using synthetic oil and I had well over 200,000 miles on it when I sold it. The engine still ran like a top. Maybe I can get 300,000 with the MK. :D
