okay..now that we have established, these plans exist, and how much they can be had for, let me play you-know-who's advocate
and advance the following arguments/speculations against buying in:
1) I seem to get bored w/....something every 7 years or so, and since I don't want to take Prozac or trade in my wife (..just kidding..mostly), I buy a new car.
In those seven or so years I have never had any powertrain issues, and not much others either, come to think of it.
2)At 10k miles per year and $3 per gallon, it costs roughly $600 more today to drive a compass than a prius (existing technology). Let me speculate that 5 years down the road it would cost $1000 w/ gas prices at $5 pg, and possibly $1500 with even more improved hybrid or super diesel technology (by then readily available in small suv/crossovers).
How long does it make sense financially and environmentally to keep the compass under these circumstances?
