Lifetime Powertrain & Buying Extended Warranties

Did any of you know that Chrysler is now offering lifetime bumper 2 bumper warranties....for a cost of course. MSRP of $0 deductible is $4,000ish. I did get a local dealer to get the price down to $3,009 , he claimed its his cost. Check this site out also.

There are two versions available (only from Chrysler Service Contracts) - Maximum Care is full mechanical. Added Care is major component coverage, a step down from full mechanical. Any Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer can sell them to anyone with a 2007, 2007 or 2008 model year vehicle. There are versions for vehicles with and without the lifetime powertrain factory warranty.

We don't get these offers in Canada.

I think the B2B is 3 years 60,000 kms and powertrain is 5 years/100K if I recall correctly.

I'm thinking of getting a Patriot with CVT2 so I might of gotten the lifetime powertrain if it was available.

Lifetime powertrain warranty buy-in

Wondering whether folks already have bought , or are considering buying into the new lifetime powertrain warranty. I read it's being offered at $750 or $900 until 9/30/07.

I would! If they offered it in Australia that is, and also for the CRD Compass. Oh well...

I plan on buying into it if I can ever get a hold of the "right guy" to talk to and get a straight answer. It appears that both of the dealers that I work with only have one person each that handles that stuff and they are not around when I call or stop by.

Called my daeler who quoted me 1800.-$, knew nothing about 900$ or 750$. Then found this link http://chryslerwarrantys.com/ , and they confirmed and can sell the plan for$ 750 or 900 (w/o deduct.), respectively.
Haven't quite made up my mind, but am leaning towards buying in.

Yea I was told you have 60 days from purchase to buy in and I was quoted 1500 for 0 deductible and 900 for 100 deductible.

I told my sales guy I had heard it was $750 for 100 deductible, he said 'Hmm, well Im just remembering numbers and I may be wrong, come on in and I will look up the prices and we can talk.'

Typical salesmen blabla

I went in to the site and you can't click on the $750 banner so I went ahead and priced it out with the info asked for and it came up to over $1000. Kind of blew that off and then got an email from them saying thanks for inquiring, yada, yada. I replied to that with this:

Re: Chrysler Warranty Promotions

Hi,
There is a banner on the site for this "If you are the original owner of a 2006 or newer vehicle, you will find special pricing, which ends September 30th, for Lifetime Powertrain plans." for $750. That's what I was trying to get but it ended up being priced at over $1000.
What's up with that?

Thanks,
Bob

Their reply:

Hi Bob,
Yeah it is a little screwy, actually the plan prices out at
$930.00, then when you deduct our promotional discount of $180.00, the
cost is $750.00. We tried pricing it out simply at $750.00 and stating
that "No Promtoions Apply" but people were getting confused. It was kind
of like that rock and the hard place... Anyway the lifetime Powertrain
Warranty is $750.00 for the $100 deductible and $900.00 for the zero
deductible. I'm sorry for all the confusion.

Thank you,
(Reps name goes here)
I almost hate to admit it but just two mishaps and the extra $150 difference in price is covered. If you're going for the long term sure sounds like a good deal! You can also call them at 1-888-918-9840. You'll have to get a promotional code online, I believe: "For a limited time only... Save an additional $180 off our already highly discounted price. This offer is only valid through August 21."

I stopped in at my local dealer.... They quoted the $750/$900 with interest free financing for 12 months..... They also told me I could upgrade to added care plus lifetime (the one that covers 800 components) for $1300 over that.

Not sure what I want to do, but the lifetime powertrain is a temptation as I tend to keep vehicles a long time..... 15yrs on the last one.

I'm looking at the Added Care Plus, too. A lot of bang for the buck. Includes
Engine
Transmission
Driveline
Steering
Air Conditioning
Engine Cooling and Fuel
Front Suspension
Rear Suspension
Electrical
Expanded Electrical
Instrumentation
Brakes
Anti-Lock Brakes
Power Group
Luxury Group

Plan Benefits
$0, $50, or $100 Deductible Per Repair Visit
$100 "Sign-and-Go" Towing and Roadside Assistance
$35/First Day Rental
$35/Day Car Rental Allowance
$1,000 Trip Interruption Protection
One-Time Plan Transfer

for $2050 now or $1470 on top of the $7 - 900 down the road. The A/C and electrical could be a killer if something goes.

My dealer said that one good reason for the "added care plus" was ABS repairs, He said that the cost goes through the roof with some of the modules if you have to replace them.
