Knocking in front suspension
I have had a knocking/creaking in my front suspension now for a couple months, mainly right after the large amounts of snow that hit the DC area this past winter. My mechanic friend says it might just be from the massive amounts of salt that followed all that snow. He suggested trying to put some lubricant on it, like white lithium grease. The creaking isn't constant though, and comes at random times. Any suggestions if this might work?

The Necessary Evil
Check the tie rod ends, ball joints and where the rack and pinion attach to the framework.
