Jeep Patriot questions
Hi all I'm new here and looking at buying a Jeep Patriot here in the UK
I will have a budget of around £10-11k so would like to get a low milage 09/10 plate 2.0 CRD Limited
However I have a couple of questions.
The engine is a VAG unit, but is it the same as the PD140 found in golfs, Leon's and Octavia etc, as this engine suffers from a few serious problems in later life, I'm kind of hoping its the new common rail, but I have been unable to find this info out
Also what are the main advantages of the newer more expensive 2.2 Merc engined models
Hope you don't mind me asking these questions

Don't know if that helps (maybe Knowing which cars it is in might). There are not too many people on this site outside the US, and as we don't get that engine here, not sure if you will get more info than that.

My friend, that engine is the best thing in Compass. Unfortunately, I have experienced it on my own skin. I bought car (Rallye edition) from a friend in March 2011, with 95000 km on it, and now, I`m at 118000 km, because I don`t drive it much (only city and highway drive, no off-roading).
I had all possible mechanical and electrical issues in universe, invested between 3000€ and 4000€ in a 3 year old car (worth about 13 000€ at that time) with less than 100K km on it, and the only thing that I can praise is the engine, probably because it is not Jeep`s. No problems with it, and, as i can here from other 2,0 TDI (CRD) owners of another brands, this thing stands. When I had last problem with electric installations, dealer told me that diagnostic device detected that 1 out of 4 engine heaters does not work, but told me that it is not a big deal and should not worry that much about it.
My poor Compass.
