Interior Lights/ Instrument Cluster Problem

I have an 07 Patriot that the interior lights have stopped working again and a buzzing sound comming from the left side of the instrument cluster. I was hoping the problem was maybe just a relay or something pretty simple. I had the same problem about 25,000 miles ago while it was under warranty so I took it in and they fixed the problem then, but now it's out of warranty.

I called them to see what they did hopping I could fix it myself, but thay told me that they had to replace the whole intrument cluster($250+labor) and to do that you have to disable the car so when you install the new cluster the orginal miles will tranfer.

Has any else had the problem or has any one else replaced their intrument cluster?

The cluster does store the vehicle config so you can't just change it out yourself. If it's the cluster again will it not be covered under parts warranty?
It's not a common fault, you are the first I have I have heard of.

Vehicles often have intermittent problems with the Auto-Check system and display, as well as problems with the speedometer being intermittent. Usually these problems are caused by poor solder joints on the Instrument cluster circuit boards where the wiring connector pins are soldered to the board.
