Installing Uconnect phone button on steering wheel

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 2.4ltr 2012 jeep compass sport.
Love the car, and happy with the uconnect system (although getting txt to work on my iphone or galaxy s4 is next to impossible, from my research, i dont think the txt feature works on either of these phones)

The 2012 models unfortunately dont have the uconnect phone or speach activation button on the steering wheels like the 2013 models do. Ive spoken with jeep australia and they have told me that they dont have a wiring kit available to install this feature. Although they did recommend jumping on some forums to see if anyones been able to get this installed.

So, has any one come across a wiring harness and the buttons to have them installed? or been able to achieve this? (the 2012 models have the room on the steering wheel to install the buttons, so i found it unusual to not have a wiring kit.)

The head unit on the compass is the RES model if that helps.

Any helps appreciated. thanks all.

On my 2014 it will only connect with my iPhone. It will not download the contacts or use the texting feature either.

Honestly answering the phone while driving is distracting enough, let alone trying to answer text message via voice to text and it getting the words wrong.
