Ignition key comes our in Drive after engine is shut off

I have a 2014 Patriot and the key comes out in Drive after I shut it off. I got distracted after I stopped, shut the car off and pull the key out while in Drive. The car started to roll back. Does anyone else have the issue of being able to remove key or pulling it out engine off and in drive?

I would take it to the Dealer ASAP. Did you hear about the celebrity that was killed when his Grand Cherokee pinned him against the security gate in front of his home. I think there was a major Recall for this problem. I cannot remove the key from our 2015 Patriot without going into Park.

Hi TonyBona,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.
