Sales are steadily climbing month after month. When something isn't broke, you don't fix it...

Don't misunderstand me, I agree changes are needed, but not while the sales are still climbing.

I'm seeing more Compass(es) and Patriots in town and around every day-I think people are happy with them. I personally don't mind the plastic interior. With kids = easier to clean. I really like the YES fabric seats, they really do repel dirt.

Seeing more and more all of the time. My little town has 5 Calibers, 3 Compass' and at least 1 Patriot. I see these same ones consistently so they are local. My town is also a crossroad so there are others cruising threw all of the time.

I like the interior, easy to clean EXCEPT vacuuming between the seats and the center console.

Hell, I'm thinking about trading in my '07 300C for a loaded '08 Compass RallyE. It would compliment my wife's '07 Patriot Limited.

I'm looking for a YJ/TJ (keeping possibilities open), or even a good deal on an XJ - something to bomb around trails really. Unfortunately the economy these days has put a crimp in that plan (as well as the oil man-thank you oil speculators )

We're looking for an early CJ or something with minimal electronics.

I'm holding my opinion on speculators. On one side they buy at the lowest price possible for distribution but over speculation can create artificial shortages driving the price up.

Here's some good articles that are relative on today's prices: http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080626/oil_prices.html & http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080626/oil_prices.html

and there's also Drill Here, Drill Now!. The naysayers that say it would take 7-10 years to get any oil out of the ground seem to forget that we weren't ready for WW II on Dec 7, 1941 but it was over in 4 years. This "war" is in the countries best interest and it doesn't put anybody in combat!

around here Ive been seeing a lot more patriots, there are about 5 that I see locally all the time and I see a few on the highway too. when we got ours (early aug 07) we had the only one around here, got a lot of stares.

not as many compasses, not sure why.

the plastic interior is kinda chintzy looking but easy to clean and after all its a jeep so we didnt want anything fancy anyway.

In our area, south of Pittsburgh, I see a lot more Compass than Patriot, maybe its supply driven. I know than some of the local dealers have more Compass in stock. We were originally looking for a Patriot but ended getting the Compass- it had what we wanted- Limited with no sunroof

Our local Jeep dealer does not appear to have any problem selling either the Compass or the Patriot. The bigger Jeeps are another story...

That's for sure, the dealer that sold us the Compass had a really sweet deal on a 07 Commander. Wife was sorely tempted (she just loves the Commander) but the gas mileage ---- she didn't even do a test drive with the Commander , had to fight the temptation LOL

Just got back from vacation. Here's the latest from Chrysler Media. If the Compass' sales don't improve it could be the next Jeepster.

Gramps,

Thanks for that info. I have to say that I am a bit surprised with the data. Even though the Patriot has significantly outsold the Compass since May 2007, I swear the Compass is more common on the road. I wonder if there is some regional disparity to all of this.

I think that I see about 3 Compass' to every 1 Patriot and 7-10 Calibers. That includes my trip down to Tennessee. Last month was a poor month all across the board, not just automotive.

I've never been able to find out how many are exported let alone "by region".
