Hello! Power Window Problem, please help.

Hi everyone,

New to the forums. I am here looking for some information for a friend’s 2007 Jeep Compass. She is having issues with her driver's side power window.

Occasionally, the window would go down and not come back up, then mysteriously begin working again a few hours later.

When I took a look at it, the window was working, but I noticed that when you pressed the down switch, the window would go down, but when you released the switch, the window would "glide" to a stop, moving another 1/2" to 1" after I took my finger off the switch. All other windows stop immediately after releasing the switch.

I think this is a worn window motor clutch and that I need to order and install a new motor assembly. What do you folks think?

Thanks for any insight!

I had something similar on a rear window. Mine's an early production too. The window track needs adjustment would be my guess, the factory messed up. This would also cause the "extra travel" when you release the button while the window settles in.

My passenger side window is all the way down and wont come back up. Of course it'd rain this am and at about 55 degrees... the ride to work stunk.

Any way to do this myself and avoid a trip to the dealer?

2007 btw

Remove the door panel and adjust the window track.

So not in the mood but its inevitible. Almighty Gramps, would you happen to have a diagram for removing the door panels?

Thanks in advance

A little more detail, I hit the switch and hear nothing(i have power windows). Either its really "stuck" or maybe disconnected somewhere. Is there anywhere else I should check b4 getting in there? I did already check all the fuses

Here's a start http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f98/s...8/#post8704972

I'm working on a full write up with more info. Once the panel is off there are 2 guide tracks that are under it that (I believe) are the ajustments.
