Headrest

Anyone know steps to remove headrest from seat? Trying to put seat covers on but can't get headrest off . Thanks

Also does the 2012 compass have airbags in side of seat? Maybe if so I shouldn't use the covers

Anyone?

I bought seat covers and they just went over the headrest... it was tight, but I got them over...

Didn't look like the ones I have are going to fit like that.

you guys with seat covers that go over the headrests should remove them. the headrests are part of the car's safety system, and in the event of an accident, the headrests will actually move to be in place behind your head after the collision. if the seat covers are in the way, who knows what will happen.

Mine doesn't cover the head rest, had a hole that just barely slipped over the headrest, function of it has not been compromised.

OK yea mine don't have hole for it to pass through

i would seriously recommend taking them back then, but that's just me. your headrests need to do their job to keep you safe. this is what they'll do in an accident:

Great picture post! Never even knew such a safety device existed. Thumbs up.

No my covers will fit and they dont cover the headrest at all. There's only two holes then in top of them for the metal post to go through so what I'm saying is there's no way I can get it over the headrest, I need to remove headrest to put it on then put headrest back in place.

I knew about the headrest safety feature...but myquestion is do the seats have airbags in them ?

there is a pin hole that you need to release on both sides, but i don't know about the wires that lead to the headrest, whether there is a plug to release the harness or not. i've never taken it apart.

some do, some don't. do you have your original window sticker? they were included in the Security & Cargo Convenience Package. or, look at your seat. auto manufacturers are required to notify you wherever an airbag is, by putting a lable on them that says "SRS", "AIRBAG", or something like that. MKs equipped with side seat mounted air bags have a tag on the side of the seat in the stitching that says "AIRBAG"

Lehman26 07-01-2013 08:11 PM

Thanks for the info I'll have to look for the pin holes and see about the wiring connected.
Nope seats don't have the SRS tag anywhere on them so most likely don't and I don't have that convenience package.
Thanks again

Got them installed took about 15 min..just inserted paper clip in hole on headrest cover and pushed and headrest released as far as wire connected just had to disconnect it and reconnect when putting headrest back on. Very easy thanks for help
