Grinding/Sliding Nosie coming from front end

This is my first post to the forum so I'm really hoping you guys can help me out. I've had my 08 jeep compass sport for 4 months now, and I love this car. I seem to be having nothing but issues with it though. The current issue is....

When I'm driving down be road, coming up to a stop light or stop sign. I'll be slowing down and as I reached below 7 mph ill heard a grinding noise from be front end. The best way I can describe it is- it sounds like you can hear the wheels slowing down in surround sound in the car...then when their reaching about to fully stop its a little louder and almost gives a bit of a jerk forward once the grinding has stopped.

I recently replaced all the break pads all for all the tires and that did absolutely nothing. It does this at every stop or every time I'm slowing down at this slow speed. I'm heads on a long road trip and don't want thing noise to be coming with me!

If someone's had this problems and solved it please let me know! Or if someone has any idea of what it could be!

'08 Compasses are well known to have poor front end parts. We had to replace front lower control arms, ball joints and tie rods on ours at around 20k miles.

I know this is perhaps a long shot, but don't discount it being your CV half shaft. I have just replaced the driver's side at 170 000 KM. Started off as a grinding noise that oscilated approaching a stop. As the week went on, progressed to a steady noise at all speeds under transmission load (manual transmission). Keep tabs on it and see if it grows worse.

Failing that, could very well be your sway bar bushings. Recently replaced my sway bar end links and will now be replacing the bushings as well. That sounds more like a creaking/groan when stopping. You can simulate the noise by pushing down on the front end while stopped - open the hood, the noise will appear to be coming from behind the engine. If it's this, I wouldn't sweat it, it's just noise - turn up the radio - and head to Rock Auto when you get a chance! Under $5.00 a set ;)
