Fog Light Problem

I've noticed a problem with my fog lights. When you pull the switch out to turn the fog lights on, sometimes they will come on and sometimes they won't. A number of times I've been able to get them on by switching them on and off several times. Has anybody else noticed a similiar problem?

I see there is a TSB on the Compass (08-016-06A Jul 06) titled "Electical Systems - Intermittent Component Operation". I haven't been able to see the whole TSB and I wander is this could be related. Anybody have the TSB?

The fog lights only come on if the light switch is turned to the parking lights or headlights position.

Yea ... I'm aware of that ... but even with the lights on ... the fog lights don't want to come on. The indicator on the dash lights as soon as you pull the knob out but the light themself only come on occasionally. I've noticed that it is worse when it is cold. I suspect the problem is either a poor connection someplace or a problem in the light control module. Naturally, the day I took it to the garage, they worked perfectly and they could troubleshoot it.

Thats a bad excuse from your garage. Electrical problems are often intermittent and should be troubleshooted as such. They should have tools to help them check your wiring. A simple continuity check and ohm reading on both sides should help isolate the issue to one side or the other. I would go back and talk to the service manager, and if they still can't help you, call around until you find a dealer that has a good service center and not one that is faking it. Hope you have better luck with this, I know I would be annoyed by it, I like my fog lamps.
