First two tanks MPG

I am adv. 22.5 MPG out of my first two tanks of gas. Is this about right and how much better may it get? How does this compare to other your ride?

For a Compass FWD 5 speed it's pretty low; for a Patriot FD II it's pretty high. I can't tell what you have from your profile. Need more info. THX!

I am getting around 23-24 mpg now with the 17" wheels instead of the 20" wheels I had. '07 Compass 4X4 Auto. Most of my driving is freeway (90%) at an avg of 65-70 mph. I notice that I drop to about 22 mpg when I do more driving around town. I am installing a K&N cold air intake tomorrow or the next day, they say that will help a little with the MPG too. I will let everyone know.

yeah mines mostly around town - don't get much freeway driving done

I'll be adding a K&N kit when I hit 3000 miles and swap over to mobil 1

still kinda crappy since mine was rated 25 city 29 highway

Some have eventually seen upwards of about 29 mpg. Depends a lot on driving conditions: city, highway or ??, warmer temps help too. Don't expect to see that much until you've had your first oil change.

I don't recall seeing where anybody posted an mpg improvement with the K&N, just a performance improvement. We'll wait for more feedback on that.

and to you and all of the rest of the new users!

Gas mileage

I am on fillup #3, but the first two tanks in my 08 Compass 5 spd got me 28.2 (almost all highway, at 70-75 mph) and 24.5 (~50% town, 50% highway).

'08 Rallye 4x4 w/ CVT, now at 850mi on the odometer, averaging 22 so far. I'd say 60% city (stop-n-go) 40% hwy

I'm happy I installed the K&N cold air intake, the bigger tires and with all the math for the speedo correction I am getting 26.67 MPG, without the added miles for the speedo calibration I would be at 24.35 which would be acceptable. I am hoping with the 2" lift coming soon I can be close to 25 MPG. Should be possible.

After 4,000 miles on my '08 Patriot 4x4 CVT FD1, I am getting about 25.5 mpg, combined city/highway. Started out at about 22 mpg, increased steadily as mileage built. Last tank was mostly two lane rural driving, 60 mph, I was getting about 28 mpg indicated on the trip computer. I love my Patriot!!
