i can relate....we had a very similar instance of a Chevy dealer in Indy, who also had a Mopar dealership in nearby Anderson, who was taking peoples trades and not paying them off. after a number of complaints from customers who were still being billed for monthly payments on their trade-ins, the AG office in Indiana shut them down and they closed their doors. this was a year or so ago and they have yet to reopen those dealerships.
fortunately for me, i work at a VERY reputable dealer who has been in business since 1933, selling Chryslers, Plymouths, Desotos, Jeeps, Eagles and just recently, Dodges too. i really feel for those of you who don't have someone that, in your mind, is creditable. it's dealers like the ones 'nettolt' mentioned that really make OUR jobs so much more difficult.
public mis-trust in dealers is increasing every day, and for good reason. like i mentioned earlier, maybe we should have a listing of 'Good Dealer/Bad Dealer' or at least a 'Good Dealership Experience/Bad Dealership Experience' thread.
