ESP Mode Question

Hi, just picked up my 08 Pat yesterday, 4x4 Autostick CVT2.

I understand that there are three ESP modes.

ON
Partial ON
and OFF

To get to off you press the button and hold it for 5 seconds, right. That works on the wifes Compass, but not on the Pat. On the compass I get the chime and the ODO says ESPOFF. On the Pat, nothing...

Am i doing something wrong?

Thanks

Martin

Engine running, Park or Neutral, mine takes 7 - 8 seconds to turn off. See if that helps.

Same here. it takes a little more like 8-10 seconds for it to come over the odometer as ESP OFF and the traction light should stay on.

Can't turn ESP off?

Hello,

I tried searching, but did not find anything. I have a brand new 2008 Patriot FD1. When I follow the manual on turning off ESP, I don't get the ESP off message on the dash. Anyone else expereince this and what have you found out?

Thanks in advance.

Dana

There have been issues with the ESP off functionality on some, IIRC it isn't specific to all 08's and AFAIK there is not a fix yet.

FWIW I have to hold the ESP button far longer than the manual states for it to turn off.

I first learned of this on the jeep patriot . com forum and then quickly found my Patriot was one that won't turn off. I was just trying to see if anyone here has any new information on what Jeep is planning to do about it. Supposedly they are aware and working on a "flash" that will fix the problem. They are claiming that they all turn off it's just that we are not getting the ESP off message.

You are not alone my friend. A lot of '08's won't go into full ESP off mode either.

I can't disable ESP.

Hello, Friends.

Instruction says that 5-second holding of ESP button (near button for seat heating) will disable it completely (non-partial). But it doesn't work....there are no message of disabling at all, only tiny orange icon like for partial disabling. Maybe i do somethin wrong? I have Limited COMPASS 4x4 variator.

Barsuk, did you look at the TSB 07compasssport posted? The lack of ESP OFF in 4x4 vehicles is a software bug. Your dealer should be able to fix it for you.
