the warning light just came on my 08 patriot, esc/bac light. but for now it seems to drive fine still, how long can I let this go? or should or getit looked at soon? also my airbag light has been on for quite some time, don't know if it is related any help appricaited
sounds like either the clock spring in steering or corroded/damaged wires in the kickplate/under carpet if airbag is on aswell , or combination of those and a wheel sensor, best bring it in since basically most of the safety features of the vehicle are disabled at this point
now the check engine light came on, so I stopped at auto zone and had a tester put on it, 2 trouble codes came up, evap leak, for the engine code I ,m guessing and steering angle sensor, how important is this to be serviced, I hear it can be rather expensive, or is it something that could be left alone for awhile?
steering angle sensor is part of traction control/abs so explains the lights.. evap is evap might be gas cap or a rotted line.. if emission testing is required were you are.. it will need to be repaired
emissions is required, however just got inspected last week , so im good , just want to make sure if I leave the steering angle go for awhile it wont do any more harm. also had new ball joints and tie rod ends installed at inspection, sensor light came on shortly after, wouldn't think it would change anything on abs, but what do I know.
I had the same lights but also had ABS and 4WD lights come on as well. Mine didn't throw any codes for some reason. I plan on taking it to the dealership. I will update after.
