I used to wave to every Jeep when I had my Wrangler...
I've tried it while driving my Patriot... NO notices...

This is a Wrangler wave. Not a Jeep wave. I've heard before that "all jeeps" wave, but I think that's just some confusion. I've never seen or personally experienced anything other than a Wrangler wave. If I waved at all Jeeps then I'd be waving at every fifth or sixth vehicle i saw. I'd be a waving fool.

Ya, when I had my Wrangler waves were a habit. No more, at least not till I get another Wrangler.

Been in a Jeep for 6 years, and now own 2. Just found out about it, but have to admit, there are so many Jeeps on the road around here, it might prove to be a distraction.

Personally I don't waive at anyone.. Not even that nice lonely old lady across the street..

There are so many Jeeps out and around town that I couldn't possibly waive at every driver. I've had a few waive at me, but at the time I had no idea why they were waiving. If I were to waive.. It would definitely not be to a Wrangler owner.. They would have to lower their Wrangler to see me...

I could see a Patriot wave though..

I've only heard of it referred to as a "Jeep wave" as well. You don't get any in a WJ either, too many soccer moms own or owned WJ's so unless you've done some obvious mods you'll generally be ignored, at least that's been my experience. I would imagine it'd be much the same in a Patriot.

Did get one nice wave from another WJ once, when we crossed paths plowing through 14 inches of new snow and no one else was out and about.

I keep my waves to Modified jeeps, so very few patriots get my wave... Mostly cherokee and wrangler owners with an odd GC and Libby in the mix. Its seems to be more of a "modified jeep wave" then just a "jeep wave."

It's referred to as the "jeep wave" because in this, and many other instances, the terms "jeep" and "wrangler" are synonymous. Hell, sometimes "jeep" is even erroneously used synonymously for any 4wd off road style vehicle.

Yeah there's a show on one of the nature channels some photographer in Africa plows around in the bush taking pics in what looks like a Rover or maybe Toyota. But he calls it "the Jeep" over and over again.
