Diesel consumption

For anyone this may be of interest I am getting around 39 to 40 mpg here in the UK driving sensibly on single carriageways - country roads.
I've no doubt on motorways I would be getting high 40s.
This is with a manual gear box.
It has surpassed my expectations.

It's settled then. I'll move to the UK so I can get a Patriot with decent mpg and save money.

I have the same model here in Ireland. On a recent trip of 200 miles I averaged 42mpg which I was more than happy with

My EVIC says I'm 210 miles to empty with a freshly topped off tank. A 200 mile trip without a stop for gas sounds risky.

I just did a short highway trip from fresno to Exeter and back via Visalia. Started with 40 city miles, got back with 170ish, probably 90% highway on the additional miles....so about 30% city, 70% highway. Average is up to a whopping 19mpg.

Wow 19mpg is low. Although if its any consolation our fuel prices are way higher than yours. I'm paying €1.50 (approx 2 usd )per litre for diesel and petrol is around €1.60 per litre.

I just managed 700km from my first full tank. Thought I was going to get 800.

Andyenobs - is that uk gallons or us gallons. My 2012 compass only has the option to show Litres per 100km or US. I imagine if I choose US the mpg reading will be miles per us gallon which is not the same as uk gallon.
