CVT question. Coasting not allowed?

After about a week of driving, I have a question on this CVT thing. Here's what I am noticing. When in drive and just driving normally, lets say I let off the gas and coast.

About 7 seconds after coasting, I feel the car slow down, like it has been put in another gear. In other cars, after letting up totally on the gas, you ....coast and the car slows down (mph) simply by loss of forward motion due to weight, wind, etc.

This is different.

When using straight drive mode, meaning put the CVT into drive....the car seems to "grab" downshift or something immedately after you let up on the gas. I don't get to "coast" freely. I am not in the autostick mode, just in "D" drive.

Is this normal, or you think an adjustment is necessary? Your car do this?

The car has 400 miles on it now. Thank you.

Ok, read it. Sounds like the same thing. Thank you very much. It's a bit hard to do the dealer thing, so glad to just forget about it.

Thanks again.

Pick up floor mats at dealer today. I think it's crazy you have to buy floor mats as an accessory...should come with the car for pete's sake.

Will have to wait 2-3 weeks for the Sirius radio, too. Those are on backorder.

I just looked at your profile. Do you have a Sport or a Limited? The floor mats are standard on the Limited (not the premium ones) and you show 18" wheels which are also part of the Limited package. Did you get those wheels as an option or did they short you the floor mats?

Well, it is a limited with the 18inch wheels, but they are charging me for the mats.

There isn't anything on the cars sticker that says floormats. Ours is a 4x2 limited.

I really find it strange that the 4X4 would have them as standard and the 4X2 wouldn't. My window sticker is posted in my Gallery for comparison.

New compass owner, coasting issue?

Just took delivery of my compass and love it so far, one issue i have is when coasting up to a red light (or anytime for that matter) if my foot is not on the gas the car seems to want to slow me down,,, tough to explain but its like the car doesnt let you just coast, its almost like it downshifts and the transmission is trying to slow you down? any ideas?
thanks
