Cutting Rallye bumper for hitch-Ideas?

I have to install a hitch on my 09 Ralleye. I am thinking of maybe putting some kind of attachment on the piece i cut out so i don't have a big hole in my bumper. Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone done this on a Ralleye? The only other option I can think of is maybe fabricating a piece of metal. Any suggestions would be helpful.

If cut it out then paint the exposed part of the hitch to match the color of your Jeep. That will mask some of it. Go to the dealer and buy touch up paint so it matches perfectly. Id also paint the edges of the bumper where you cut so that looks nice and clean.

The hitch itself will be behind the bumper. It will not be exposed at all. I will need to cut the bumper to put the tongue in the receiver.

OK so same idea cut a small window in the bumper just big enough for the tongue. If you paint the metal that you can see through that hole to match the body of the jeep it will kinda blend in.

Thanks for your help. I like the idea of painting the receiver. I will post some pics when I'm done.

Maybe attaching the piece you cut out to a reciever cover would do the trick

Did you ever complete this or has anyone done something similar? I am ready to buy a hitch but If its gonna look like a hack job I might come up with a different plan of attack. I would really love to see a picture or two from behind and under the car showing how close the hitch is to the bumper.

Cheers, Eric

Yes, I did actually complete the project. I had to cut from the bottom of the bumper up to the black part. It does not look all that bad. I did keep the piece I cut out in case I want to somehow make a mechanism to attach and detach it. But for now it does bother me.
I went with the Reese hitch. I bought it from auto zone.

Any pictures? Tips or tricks. I was looking under the rear yesterday and it looks like I might have to trim up the underside also. What did you use to cut out the body?

hidden hitch makes a hitch for the Rallye, it says in the instructions to cut the body kit.

They have class II and class III, here is the class II

The fascia is easily cut with a 'plastic blade' (6 teeth/inch) in a jig saw. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f98/a...ml#post3631586
