Crossmember Corrosion

Hi,
I just received a letter from Chrysler Canada stating that they are bumping up the warranty for the front and rear crossmembers on my 2007 Jeep Compass. It also advises me to get them inspected annualy for possible corrosion issues on the 2007 Compass, Patriot, and Dodge Caliber. Has anyone had problems of this kind with their 2007's?

I received a notice also. Took in my 07 patriot. They replaced crossmember no charge. Took only 2 hrs. Good thing crossmember was like Swiss cheese. 245000 kms.

I got the same letter. When I brought it to the dealership for repair, they said it cost around 800-900$ to customers to do it, because they brake all kinds of component doing the job, and only the crossmember is garanteed. I ended up not doing it.

The dealer explained to me that when they change it, they brake things that are rusted and then they charge for that. Maybe I should bring this issue up with Chrysler directly.

Re; Cross member Corrosion

I would first try another dealer. If that doesn't help, yes contact FCA directly. I'm happy to see that you are still looking into it. If those cross members fail, it could be catastrophic.
