Crazy Places you take your Patriot/Compass?

Hey All,

WK owner here. Just wanted to know where you all take your Compass and Patriots? Trails, mud.

Have you ever hit a trail that most people think a Patriot could not handle? Things of that sort....

Just wanted to drop by and find out!

Nothing very crazy here - I still owe money on the damn thing, it's not like I can exactly go out and wreck it just for laughs. :P

I'm not sure what people think is the limit for a Patriot, but the forest trail I did with mine, well, if I had walked it all through before driving it I would have doubted that it could be done. :) Of course, I did have very experienced spotters to show me the best lines, if I would have tried it alone I would have banged against the rocks much more. Mud? I did try one bigger spot - where I naturally got immediately stuck, thanks to my lovely stock streetslick tires. (Edit: come to think of it, the mud was deep enough that I'm not sure better tires would have helped. Maybe would have gotten me a tad further into the mud before leaving me high-centered on it.) Most off-road driving I've done has been rather easy sand trails. Nothing impressive, but then with those technical driving hasn't been the point.

A few pics of the forest trail and one from a camp site in Lapland: http://s488.photobucket.com/albums/r..._another_Tony/

Many would consider Winnipeg a crazy place to drive any vehicle, let alone a Compass. :)

Florida, land of swamps. I live in Central Florida, home of the Green Swamp WMA. Most of the (limited) driving trails are pretty tame in the winter. In the summer though (our rainy season), they can get downright nasty. My good ol' Compass 4X4 has pulled me through some thick stuff even with the factory AT tires. Might think twice (or three or four times) before taking on a rocky trail though.;)

To the mall! LoL

I use to take my WJ (sniffles I miss you ) all over the place, since owning the compass she only goes off roads when I have park in grass lots

She just FWD but eventually like after I am done making jeep payments I might get more adventous with her.

well i took my patriot down in the dunes in anna bay in new south wales australia and i got bogged about 300m in to the journey but to to it all off i blew the clutch in about 10 secs with esp off so they are not as strong as everyone keeps telling me they are

Tony1911 02-06-2009 03:46 AM

O.o Yikes! I know hogar over at ***********.com managed to destroy a clutch, but it took him considerably longer... You sure it wasn't a defective clutch to begin with?

(Edit: oh man, don't tell me this silly site doesn't allow people to mention other forums? This is ridiculous! Anyway, I was talking about a forum dedicated to the Jeep Patriot. I'm sure you can figure it out if you want to go there. :) )

Bad blood in the early days. My request to lift the censor was denied.

well they pulled it apart and saw that the pressure plate was completely destoyed but it was all over in about 10 secs but i had to pay 1200 dollars to get it fixed and we are going back out on the dunes again next month to prove that the car can do it with ease

Edit of an Edit to be more 'fair' and PC: Seriously, this site won't even let me display pictures in a post because they want to filter out the URL, which is not going to be seen or clickable??? On top of a relatively small user total limit and relatively subscription? *asterix*.com charges me less for a lifetime membership than this place does for one year...what else do we get?
