Corner Lenses

hey. I saw some pictures of people tinting out the front corner lenses, and on the black it looks amazing (imo)...and I was lookin at taking them off and I wasn't sure how...I went up thru the wheel well and found 2 bolts that seemed to connect to them...but wasn't sure how to get at them since there was something that seemed would be in the way! anyone have any ideas?

Post some pictures when you're done, I'm curious to see how it looks! My plain-jane black Compass needs something; just not sure what yet.

if you look on www.cardomain.com they have it so you can search specifically for jeep compass'. Thats where I got the idea from...but when I get it done i'll also get some pics up!

patrick3319 05-11-2008 03:27 AM

alright. so I didn't take out the lenses...just did a VERY good taping off job lol...and I finally got around to tinting them...I think I may go a little darker than what they are now...but it looks SOOOOOOO much better. and all my friends that have seen it so far have agreed...(at least with the black). I'm going to get some day shots, and night shots and then I will post up some pics!

patrick3319 05-11-2008 11:56 PM

ots obviously easier to start off light and go darker...i've thought about maybe going 1 or 2 coats darker..but I don't know, I know that either way...it looks SOOOO much better not being so BAM in your face...

alright...so we all know what before looks like (i'll add some anyways)

Where did you buy the tint spray from?
I'm going to hit my front lenses on the grand with a few coats.

Argent33 05-12-2008 05:52 AM

wow thats waaay amazing - I am seriously considering doing this to mine now (those turn signal lens REALLY stand out on the Black Compass)

do a websearch for night shades spray on tint (Modern Performance has it for $19.99 - http://www.modernperformance.com/pro...oducts_id=1316)

Laloggia 05-12-2008 06:34 AM

Great Job...that looks very nice.

patrick3319 05-12-2008 10:15 AM

ya, what I used is called VHT night shades. I got it from my local performance shop. It was about $20. Most people were saying to take them off to spray it...but like I said...I did a SWEET job tapping it off. I should have taken pics, cuz I did such a good job I drove around with it on. The only problem with that, is trying to get it the same darkness, which I think I did really good job on, cuz I can't, nor can any of my friends tell if either side is darker than the other.

Did you tint rear lights too?

no...i've thought about doing it, lots of my friends have said to leave them...but they stick out like so much since they're brand new and shiny and all...I think they would look a bit better with like maybe 1 or 2 light coats of tint...but I donno if i'm gonna do that yet...got lots so no rush lol

madrabbitt 05-13-2008 05:28 PM

One light coat changes their appearance enough to make them stand out less, without being worried about a loss of light output.

Be warned though, it may be against the law to tint the reflector portion.
