Considering a Patriot - How do you like them?

Hello, new guy here. I don't have a Jeep of any sort, but am considering the Patriot as a next vehicle. Have you folks had good experiences with yours? Any problem areas? I would either get a new '16 or a used '14 or '15.

If I get one it would be with the six speed auto trans, not the CVT. Consumers Report says that the "reliability has been average, but the Patriot scores too low for us to recommend it". Consumers says the same thing about my wife's Chevy Equinox and we love it, so I take that "scores too low" with a grain of salt.

So tell me what you think of your newer model year Patriots.

I have a 2010 with the CVT and have 85000 miles on mine. Only repair has been lower control arms. I have been very happy wth mine and would buy another one.

Had an 09 until a few months ago. Was not happy with it. Lots of things just broke. Abs brakes went out, shifter broke leaving me stranded, latch on tailgate went out, not too me mpg tanked after a couple of years. Would not invest in one again.

I owned a 2008 patriot for 4 years, then had a 2012 Compass for 4 years, Both were the FDII models, no major problems with them. I modified both for offroad use and other than self inflicted damage they were very reliable.

The new 6 speed auto is pretty good and my sister actually just bought a 2016 Compass, tons of incentives right now so they can be had cheap. It's a good reliable vehicle that can take you down the off trail here and there

I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot Oscar Mike edition. It has 22,000 miles on it now and I haven't had any issues with it. Been a great vehicle and has taken a beating here and there. I would and have recommended it to friends. I would buy another one if needed, it's a great little Jeep. Mine has the FD1 but part of the package included tow hooks. I like the look of it and it's pretty comfortable on long trips. More so than the wrangler but doesn't beat the grand Cherokee. Hope this helps!

Both of my children purchased 2014 Patriots with the 6-speed auto. Both are bulletproof and are excellent transportation. 27+ MPG loaded with gear on the highway and excellent in Colorado winter weather. Also cheap to insure.

2012 JKU Crush 2.5 AEV, 33" GYD - Mine
2013 JKU Billet Oscar Mike - Hers
