Compass Squeaky Driver Seat !!

I purchased a Compass (limited) this past August, and have since had a persistent and pesky squeaky drivers seat. I took the car back to my dealership, and they did find a TSB on what appeared to be the issue / fix. But as it went, they performed the service on the seat, and it did not resolve the problem. I took the car back, and the same tech who attempted the fix the first time was indeed able to produce the seat squeak again. The problem is apparent when you start / stop the car, or even lightly shift your weight in the seat. The squeaking seems to be coming from the seat frame (or rails) that is housed under plastic covers on each side of the seat (not where the seat rails meets the floor).

The Service Mgr. indicated that he would have to send the car out to a specialist, and to this point has not made any arrangements for this to happen. I have tried my own remedies such as readjusting the seat position, etc., but it only seems to temporarily quiet the squeaking (if at all).

And I even had the tech at the dealer sit with me in another Compass (on the sales lot), and sure enough the driver's seat squeaked when he moved a bit in it. So this at least made the issue more than just my car. The tech was stumped, and he wasn't sure what to do, so I am still without any help on this.

If anyone out there is / has exp. this problem, let me know how the dealership responded, and if they could /tried to fix the squeak ...the current technical Service Bulletin did nothing to remedy things.

Hi, sorry about your squeeky seat! We're not ignoring you. I don't have the problem so I have no idea of a cure. Maybe I'm fat enough to hold the seat down tighter! I did go to the Caliber forums and couldn't find anything related over there. If you find a fix, let us know.

Thanks for this heads up about the New Service Bulletin, but I just called into a Jeep dealership and this one matched the original bulletin that I mentioned in my original thread. maybe the fix wasn't carried out so properly.

I am going to have to take the Compass in for a second diagnosis (and dealership) . Thanks.
