I wonder how difficult - or expensive - it would be to get my wheels painted black. I REALLY like the black wheels on the Rallye...

My preferrance would be to sand blast and powder coat. That may require R & R the tires and rebalancing, maybe not. There are usually several listings in the Yellow pages for these services in most cities.

STARTECH Fascia
These are the fascia pieces that STARTECH offers on their idea of what a Diesel Rallye should be. These are 20" wheels btw, it's also lowered. I really like the front & rear fascia on theirs too!

Ralleye wheels
Some folks are asking about the ralleye package and wheels for the Compass. The black painted wheels are avaliable. The wheels can be purchased through Mopar parts or Jeep accessories. I think they list at $229 a piece. It is an 18X7" rim. The chrome wheel can also be had, they list at $250 each. If I had the Mopar parts catalog in front of me, I'd give the part #'s. Sry.

Should have my rallye this month too
Just put down a deposit on a black version of the compass rallye earlier this evening. Should arrive in the next couple of weeks. Can't wait.
4x2, CVT, sunroof, premium 9 speaker audio system, some other goodies too...I'll try to post some pics when it arrives. Never thought I would be buying a Jeep, but after looking at all the other small suv/crossovers, I just couldn't beat the combination of price and performance (and looks) on the compass. Originally I just wanted a black limited edition with the premium sound, but the closest the dealership could come up with was a couple rallyes coming in later this month...they cut me a deal on one and I was sold. Looking forward to it. ![]() |

Not trying to steel the thread, or sound stupid, but how do you "order" cars from the factory?

go down to the dealer, browse the booklets.
then you get a form where you basically choose model, color, options, etc. depending on how you plan on paying for the car, they either run your credit then, and set up payment arraingements (which you dont start paying until the car is delivered, of course) or get a deposit. they send the order along, someone on the factory decides when to make yours, for example, if you have a marine blue 4x2 limited, its probably going to be made with several other marine blue 4x2 limiteds. then, after its made (realize, its a 2-4 month process from paper to car) it gets shipped to the dealer you ordered from, and they call you to come get it and finalize the paperwork

Wow.. I never knew you could do that. If you do that though, are you stuck paying MSRP? Or is it still negotiable?

It's still negotiable including any discounts, incentives, etc.
Also some buying tips here: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f98/reliability-issues-389528/

the salesman at my dealer offered me $100 over invoice right from the start(September 06) when I ordered my compass. He said they'll give a better price on orders, because they don't take up showroom or lot space. By the time my compass came in (Jan.07) the $750 incentive had come into effect, so I paid less than I had negotiated for, and -after driving it for five months- can say I got much more than I expected
