On the 18th of this month, my beloved Compass got destroyed by an inconsiderate human being driving on a suspended license. My wife had two people in my vehicle and got hit from behind. She then hit an S10 in the rear end. 16640.10 to repair a 2012 with 3724 on the clock. To top it off she had no insurance. If you live in the Indianapolis area, it is scheduled for auction the second weekend of October or so the auction house told me.
My insurance paid off the loan, and I may have enough to cover a down payment on a 70th anniversary 2011 Compass. The insurance company is going to sue, but if I sue, I have to basically repay the ins co the amount I recover.
But, in true Jeep fashion, it starts and runs. The radiator is sitting on top of the intake, but the radiator is still sealed. I couldn't believe it. If the stars align, I will get a second one though.
similar thing happened to mine less than a year after it was new (like you) but mine had 12.5k miles on it. the damage on mine wasn't as significant however, mine was only $8.5k in damages. rear window didn't break, and neither did the tail lights. looks like you got hit a lot harder than we did.
Thats heavy, in england uk we have the motor insurance bureau which covers people with no insurance, all insurance companies pay into it. Is that something you have in america?
No, they made it illegal to not have at least liability coverage insurance. If you don't have insurance, you shouldn't be driving. If you are driving without insurance, and you get caught or into an accident, you face fines, community service, and/or jail time, depending on the state.
