Compass Brake Job

2007 Compass needs new brakes. Do I need to replace rotors or is it just a good idea? On other vehicles usually wait to replace rotors on 2nd brake job. Had a previous Jeep where mechanic told me that rotors could not be resurfaced because that were not made to be re-used again. Didn't know now if that was true or if Jeep had changed the type of rotors that it uses.

Thanks,
John

Unless the rotors are warped too much or just won't clean up with turning they can be turned down. The minimum is stamped on the rotor. Even NAPA has them for $35 - $51 if you need some.

Unless they are out of round, gouged badly or under minimum thickness. Just replace the pads. If it makes you feel, good sand the surface of the rotor a bit to clean 'em up. All of my vehicles have the original rotors. The highest mileage one is 155k.
