Changing Outside Temperature Display From C to F

2011 Patriot North Edition without EVIC, does anyone know if there is a way to change the outside temperature display from Celsius to Fahrenheit? I know the manual describes how to change it for a vehicle with the EVIC but can't find anything on how to change it for a vehicle without the EVIC.

Also has anyone heard of a Patriot with CVT II with Hill Start Assist????

I just looked at the window sticker to my 2011 Latitude w/Off Road package. It also lists the Hill Start Assist under the Standard Equipment Column. Theres a note right next to "Standard Equipment" that says "unless replaced by optional equipment". I think in my case, if I recall, getting the Off Road package w/CVT2 eliminated the Hill Start Assist. But its still listed on the window sticker.

press the step button on your steering wheel when the temperature is showing, that should change it to C (off the top of my head).

if that doesn't work, i'm not really sure. F is the correct temperature anyway

Of course it is. That's why he's trying to switch TO it.

The vehicle is in fact a Canadian vehicle located in Canada but I was able to find the reasoning that created the problem. If a Patriot is not equipped with an Electronic Vehicle Information Centre it can't be done by an owner and the dealer can't do it because of the metric odometer requirements in Canada (kilometres) versus the US (miles). Apparently, resetting the outside temperature display from the metric standard of Celsius to the US standard of Fahrenheit would change the odometer reading to the US standard which is miles and Transport Canada requires it to be in metric standard which is kilometres.

Nice to see that it is not just the US Government that comes up with asanine regulations.

Both the selling dealer and another dealer I contacted for a second opinion.

Sure did, pressing the step button and then reset will only reset both trip odometers, it will not change the temperature display. I tried this several times before I posted the problem.

I was hoping someone found a back door so to speak that would provide for it to be changed by some obscure method. Just like the manual provides for changing the power door lock functions and other features by pushing various system buttons in a particular order and within a certain time for vehicles that do not have the electronic vehicle information centre.

The dealer told me if I could change the temperature display that the odometer would falsely indicate miles and I would be misrepresenting the vehicle in the Canadian market in the event of a sale. Said I'd be showing 100,000 miles instead of 160,000 kilometres and any Canadian purchaser (because the vehicle was manufactured to Canadian specs) would believe it had 100,000 kilometres on it. It's not my intention to mislead anyone, I just prefer Fahrenheit because I'm old school and used Fahrenheit prior to Canada going metric. Fahrenheit has more graduations than Celsius so it's more accurate.

The problem or blessing (depending the situation) with vehicle computerization is that many systems are interrelated and a change in one effects a change in another.

some one correct me if I am wrong but if you have the 26E package doesn't that come with EVIC, I mean u got every other bell and whistle..so, IIRC its under the personal settings. You have to do a bit of scrolling to find it. It is past my bed time so I might be not thinking clearly...lol

Here in Canada to get the vehicle information centre you have to purchase the Security and Cargo Convenience Group option package for the North model or purchase a Limited model. Additionally, in Canada for the 2011 models fog lamps were included as standard equipment in the Limited model only yet in the US were standard equipment on all models.
