Change oil light

I changed my oil at 3737 the light never came on now at 6314 it finally came on but its early for my next oil change. Is there a reset button or does it come on depending on oil life?

Our '08 Compass has a procedure to reset the oil light that's explained in the manual. You should check there.

You have to reset the OLM when you do an oil change. The OLM does not actually monitor the oil so it doesn't know when you change it. The procedure is listed in your owner's manual and is very simple...

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.

NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If necessary repeat this procedure.

yea i figured it out thanks, this jeep is so weird you have to enter cheat codes for everything. Turning hill start control off was different.
