Can't get 430N in a 2014 Patriot Latitude
I just ordered a 2014 Patriot Latitude and was surprised when I couldn't get a 430N and had to settle for the 430. I would have ordered the Limited in which you CAN get the 430N, but can't get a manual transmission. Does anybody know why they stopped offering the 430N in anything but the Limited version of the Patriot? It was in the options for the 2013 Latitude through April, then mysteriously disappeared.
I'm not really finding when the UCONNECT 430N CD/DVD/MP3/HDD/NAV was an option on the Latitude.
The standard equipment radios are
UCONNECT 130 AM/FM/CD/MP3 (RES) for the Sport and the Latitude
UCONNECT 230 6CD/DVD/MP3 (REQ) for the Limited.
UCONNECT 230 6CD/DVD/MP3 (REQ) is optional on the Sport.
UCONNECT 430 CD/DVD/MP3/HDD (RBZ) is optional on the Latitude and Limited.
UCONNECT 430N CD/DVD/MP3/HDD/NAV is optional on the Limited.
I don't know why the 430N is not offered on the lower trim levels.
Common reasons for not offering an option include wiring compatibility, supply contraints and low demand.
Maybe it's like paint colors. Where they will put a color on the website like it's an option, then when you go to order it isn't. :cough: mineral grey :cough:
to my knowledge, navigation was never an option on anything but the Limited (or Latitude X) models.
If its that big of a disapointment you could always buy one off of ebay and install it. Granted it will run over a grand to purchase it. The installation is pretty easy though. You would have to add a nav antenna though.
It would probably be cheaper to just buy a TOM TOM or Garmin. They are basically giving them away now.
You can get an adpater( splitter )that let's you do it on older head units w/ both Sirius( Yellow )and GPS( blue )inputs...
So if you have a 2011+ Patriot that has Sirius but no Nav you can get a 2011+ Nav head unit like the 430N RHB and your factory Sirius antenna handles the GPS part too.
This is a 430N RHB back shot. It is a Nav head unit( obviously hence the N after 430 )but as you can see it only has the AM/FM( white )and Sirius( Yellow )inputs. GPS uses that yellow input as well. As I understand it from what I have read anyway.
