Brake squeak when reversing

Now that is colder and damp out, my 08 Patriot experiences a "squeak squeak" sound from the rear (I think it's the brakes) and sometimes a groaning sound that can be quite loud. It only seems to happen when rolling in reverse and goes away after driving for a short time. Anyone experienced this or seen any information about it?
Thanks

It is normal- just a light coating of rust on the rotors that goes away after a few stops.

cant locate the TSB. however if i recall correctly its caused by a pin (?) or something that was installed backwards.

Found this in the Service Manual:

DISC BRAKE MOAN OR HOWL WHILE BRAKING IN REVERSE

Rear disc brake caliper guide pin bolts installed in incorrect locations.

Remove lower guide pin bolt and inspect for special sleeve on tip. If sleeve is present, remove upper and lower guide pin bolts and install special sleeved bolt in upper location and standard guide pin bolt in lower location. Perform on both sides of vehicle. Replace rear brake pads.

anybody been to the dealer with this yet? also, it hasn't ever done it before, but started the past few days, i heard mention of moisuter buildup/slight rust, that would make sense in my case BUT it does it after driving, like when i back out of a space somewhere (no time for moisture to build up) plus it's pretty dry here right now.....

Not yet

I haven't gone to the dealer yet but it does seem to be getting worse in my case. I also experience it after it has been driven and sits for only a short time so it's a mystery. Could be the reversed pin thing.

Dealer visit

So... took it to the dealer, let it sit overnght, duplicatated the issue. Diagnosis-- "It's a characteristic of the vehicle due to film/rust on the brakes". Nothing they can do. (sigh)

brake squeal

I took mine to the dealer twice on this subject. Mine had 49K miles on it. They said it was normal for it to squeal or make a noise. I find this hard to believe since brakes are brakes and they all have the same characteristics.
They replaced the brake shoes on the rear and it stopped for a couple of days. Then it started back again with a vengence sqeaking as loud as it ever did. I haven't had a chance yet but I am going to try what I do on all my brakes and put some (disc brake quiet) on the metal surfaces where it meets the pins so it won't squeal any more. I will let you know if it works or not

my brakes squeak also. They do it right before I start to stop. It is annoying. I took it to the dealer twice and they say it is normal. I have never heard of any brakes squeaking as being normal. they said they replaced the brake shoes on the rear. But it still makes the same noise. Going to try some (brake quiet) as soon as I get the motivation up to take off the rear wheels.

does anyone have a copy of that TSB about the reversed pin so I can take it to the dealer and show them idiots what the cause may be ? Since it seems they don't want to try and do anything about it since it is still under warranty.
