Brake Disc rust

I picked up my Patriot earlier this week and have only done minor driving on it. However, I noticed yesterday the brake discs have rust all over them. 70miles and a little Michigan weather. I'm very dissapointed in the way they look. Is this typical? I'm afraid at 500 miles my wheels will be pumpkin looking.

Picture below show the rust

Very normal. Bare metal and moisture create this kind of surface rust. It's cleaned off the next time that you drive and use your brakes only to reform when you park for any length of time.

Very normal- happens to all makes and models.

The rust you are seeing can happen in about a hour- like when washing the Jeep.

Thanks for the response. I've just never noticed it with my other cars.
