Bent Hood

As a result of Iowa allowing heavier and longer grain trailers and living in rural Iowa, I got a bent hood. The newer trailers and trucks make such of an air wake that every time one passes in the opposite lane it makes my hood flare up. I don't know if it just by design of the new hood and it's front lip angle or what. I'll post photos when I get my camera back. The bent portion is right above the drivers side headlight.

Its's not bad but it is slightly annoying. Looks like I'll be getting a bug deflector soon.

I wanted to say "THAT SUCKS" earlier but that doesn't add much to the thread. The earlier Patriots had a problem with the rear of the hood lifting up and replacing the hinges helped that problem. Do you see an easy way to stiffen the hood so this won't happen to someone else or is the bug deflector an after the fact fix?

I'm hoping the bug deflector helps by putting more down force on the lip of the hood. When the trucks and trailers pass by it lifts up the hood all the way back to the hinges. As for stiffening the hood it my be plausible to weld some square tubing to the under side. Notch it like this \____/ in short pieces to help hold the form of the hood angles. Ill have to talk with my body repair guy as to what his thoughts are. Im no good at welding. I need him to repaint the corner to as its chipped bad right above the head lamp. I've tried to use touch up and it doesn't want to stick even after sanding primer etc.

Any pictures or is your camera still 'on loan'?
